On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, a meeting on the topic of “Foundations and Approaches for De-escalation with the West with an Emphasis on Europe” was held at the Institute for Contemporary Studies of Nations (Iran–Eurica), featuring a speech by Dr. “Hamid Baeidi-Nejad,” with the presence of the institute’s CEO, Dr. “Efteian,” and the participation of a group of the institute’s experts. Examining the prospects of relations with Europe and approaches for managing tensions with Europe were the main themes of this meeting.

According to Dr. Baeidi-Nejad, Europe may no longer have the role it had in the past, but it still holds a significant role and importance in the international system, particularly in relation to Iran. Regarding Ukraine, from the European perspective, Iran has decided to enter into a very important conflict against Europe because they view the Ukraine issue as being directed against themselves. The issue is not the drones. The issue is that, from their perspective, Iran has entered a strategic war in favor of one of the main parties involved in the conflict. Therefore, this issue is very important for Europeans.

Regarding the nuclear program, we are naturally now in a very strategic situation, and we must understand that if, under these circumstances, we move in a direction where the strategic interests of the United States and Europe are severely affected, they will certainly react because the issue is serious for them, as they believe it could lead to an arms race at the regional level.
