Dr. Bagheri emphasized Iran\u2019s right to enrich uranium, asserting that this right is not dependent on or subject to any other country. He stated, \u201cOur right to enrichment is based on Article 4 of the NPT, and we do not take it from anyone.\u201d In fact, he continued, \u201cWe, like many other countries, derive the right to enrichment\u2014if the term \u2018right\u2019 is appropriate\u2014from Article 4 of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), while the United States, not only regarding us but in relation to all countries, holds that no country in the world has the right to enrich uranium.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dr. Bagheri also addressed the approach and true intentions of the United States regarding nuclear negotiations and the degree of its seriousness. He maintained that the conduct of the U.S., its approach, its positions, and the inferences one can draw from within the negotiations all suggest that the United States is not genuinely pursuing meaningful political dialogue at present. \u201cThe U.S. is not currently seeking meaningful dialogue; rather, it is seeking achievements,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n
