She has written numerous books and articles on contemporary politics in the Middle East and EU and US foreign policy and their role in conflicts in the Middle East. She has also worked for the United Nations and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in the Middle East and has pursued extensive field research in the region.<br \/><br \/><strong>Riccardo Alcaro<\/strong> is the Research Coordinator and Head of the Global Actors Programme at the Istituto Affari Internazionali. He has been a visiting fellow at the Center on the United States and Europe of the Brookings Institution in Washington and a fellow of the EU-wide program European Foreign and Security Policy Studies (EFSPS).
