Since the introduction of Obama\u2019s strategy of \u201cPivot to the East\u201d together with the decline and change of presence in the Middle East, new dimensions of this strategy have emerged. Although this strategy has political, economic, and military-security dimensions, US initiatives to implement this strategy, such as the revival of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, the AUKUS Security Pact, and military exercise in East Asia, show that the military-security dimension is a top priority in US policy of containing China.<\/p>\r\n

    Dr. Youngjun Kim <\/strong>is a professor of International Politics at Korea National Defense University (KNDU) and an official member of the National Security Advisory Board of the Republic of Korea (ROK) President’s Office (The Blue House). He is also an International Senior Research Fellow of the Foreign Military Studies Office (FMSO) of the US Army and a ROK-US Combined Forces Commander Strategic Shaping Board (CSSB) member. His areas of research and work include national security and defense policy, non-proliferation, northeast Asian security, and US-China relations.<\/p>\r\n

    Dr. Aftab Kamal Pasha <\/strong>is the director of the Gulf Studies at the Centre for West Asian Studies and a professor of International Studies at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in India. He has previously been a research fellow at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University of Egypt. His research is focused on West Asian and North African issues and he has extensively published on topics related to India and the Persian Gulf. His recent works include Iran, Iraq, and the GCC States<\/em>; Iraq: Sanctions and Wars;<\/em> and India, Iran, and the GCC States<\/em>.<\/p>\r\n
