Since the introduction of Obama’s strategy of “Pivot to the East” together with the decline and change of presence in the Middle East, new dimensions of this strategy have emerged. Although this strategy has political, economic, and military-security dimensions, US initiatives to implement this strategy, such as the revival of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, the AUKUS Security Pact, and military exercise in East Asia, show that the military-security dimension is a top priority in US policy of containing China.

Discussing this topic in-depth, the key speakers of this webinar will address the following issues:

  1. Great Powers Competition in the Indo-Pacific (in particular, US-China);
  2. The Future of US Military Presence in West Asia;
  3. The Implications of China’s Increasing Presence in the West Asia for Iran-China Cooperation.
